2 shares with the Lockheed "Electra" the high-speed operation
of the extensive and popular air routes of Eastern Airlines. The "Great
Silver Fleet"' operates fifteen round trips daily between New
York and Washington, three of which continue to Richmond and two to
New Orleans and Miami respectively. The D.C. 2 carries fourteen passengers
and a buffet is provided complete with refrigerator and facilities
for serving meals in the air. With two 710 h.p. Wright "Cyclone"
engines the D.C. 2 has a cruising speed of 191 m.p.h., and weighs
18,000 lbs. loaded. |
