| The Douglas D.S.T.
is the Sleeper-Transport version of the D.C. 3, and it is used on
the New York-Los Angeles service. Its cabin is divided into eight
sections, each having two facing seats. At night these seats pull
out to form a lower bunk, and the upper bunk drops down from the ceiling.
Separate dressing rooms for men and women, equipped with running water,
etc., are at the back of the cabin, together with lavatories. There
is a pantry forward. Fitted with two 1,000 h.p. Wright "Cyclone"
engines, the D.S.T. has a cruising speed of 190 m.p.h. It weighs,
fully loaded, 24,000 lbs. |
