Junkers Ju. 86 is one of the latest high-performance commercial monoplanes
to go into service on the main European routes of Deutsche Luft Hansa.
It is an all-metal monoplane with retractable undercarriage and has
comfortable accommodation for ten passengers. The Ju. 86 has a smooth
sheet metal covering to the wings, fuselage and tail, instead of the
corrugated covering which was a characteristic feature of all earlier
Junkers aircraft. Fitted with two 600 h.p. Junkers "Jumo 205"
compression-ignition engines, the Ju. 86 has a cruising speed of 175
m.p.h. It weighs 17,300 lbs. fully loaded. |
