
| The Savoia-Marchetti
S. 74 is large four-engined commercial monoplane built by the Societa
Idrovolanti Alta Italia "Savoia" and used by Ala Littoria
on its Paris Rome service. It has accommodation for twenty-four passengers
in one large cabin, beneath the floor of which is the main baggage
hold. It has a welded steel tube fuselage and wooden wing, and is
fitted with four 700 h.p. Piaggio "Stella" engines which
give it a cruising speed of 180 m.p.h. its loaded weight is 29, 040
lbs. the S.74 will fly with two of its engines stopped. |
