Hawker Hurricane

The Hawker Hurricane with the Supermarine Spitfire, represents one of Britain's strongest methods of defence against the bomber, and has won world-wide respect for its high performance. The Hurricane's maximum speed is given as 335 m.p.h. but it is known that under favourable circumstances very much higher speeds have been recorded over considerable distances. The Rolls-Royce Merlin II engine gives over 1,000 h.p. and the pilot can concentrate the fire of eight machine guns on his target.
