Lockheed Electra
The Lockheed "Electra" has been used by Braniff Airways to speed up the services on its routes from Chicago through Kansas City to Dallas, Galveston and Brownsville, on the Mexican border. It is a very clean low-wing, cantilever monoplane of all-metal construction, and is fitted with two 425 h.p. Pratt & Whitney "Wasp Junior" engines and a retractable undercarriage. Accommodation is provided for a crew of two and ten passengers, and there are baggage compartments in the nose of the fuselage and in the wing roots. The "Electra" weighs, fully loaded 9,700 lbs., and cruises at 203 m.p.h.
